Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU) persists in its objective of developing technically proficient individuals with international skills. In April 2024, Vice President Dr. Lin Ru-Jen and Professor Lin Da-Sheng from the Department of Game Design visited Hanyang University and Sungshin Women’s University in South Korea. The tour concluded with the signing the Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), establishing a framework for substantial academic collaboration, talent development, and cultural exchange in science, artificial intelligence, arts, and humanities.

Vice President Lin characterized the MOU signing as crucial in promoting substantive international cooperation between LHU and leading South Korean institutions. The institution intends to enhance educational exchanges through future projects centered on “resource sharing, mutual benefit, and co-development,” including professor and student exchanges, joint research, internship programs, and cultural immersion experiences. These initiatives aim to enhance educational connections and cultivate enduring relationships between Taiwan and South Korea while developing internationally oriented professionals in the vocational and technical fields.

Dr. Lin, LHU’s vice president, emphasized that Hanyang University and Sungshin Women’s University are esteemed private institutions. The alliance aims to foster an international learning environment that enhances the partnership’s strengths by integrating shared knowledge, innovation, and technological resources. She observed that LHU’s Colleges of Engineering, Management, and Humanities & Design have already adopted AI-enhanced instruction and are utilizing advanced technologies to enhance teaching quality and improve students’ creativity and learning outcomes—establishing a foundation for more effective talent development and international research collaboration.

Professor Lin Da-Sheng stated that, alongside current negotiations with LHU’s sister institution, Induk University, the delegation commenced cooperation conversations with Chung-Ang University and Dankook University in Korea. These initiatives enhance cooperation in artificial intelligence, research, technological application, and intercultural exchange. He underscored that the recently executed MOUs solidified relations with Hanyang and Sungshin, strengthening confidence and goodwill between Taiwan and South Korea.

LHU has actively established academic connections with Korea in recent years to expand students’ global perspectives. In November 2024, the LHU Art Center executed a Letter of Intent with Sungdone High School in Korea. LHU has partnered with prominent Korean institutions and arts and technology education sector organizations to create a dynamic, cross-generational international learning platform. These collaborations emphasize cultivating talent through integrating technology and the arts, cultural interaction, artistic appreciation, AI-enhanced creative expression, and advanced IT design thinking. The objective is to cultivate a new cohort of multidisciplinary professionals integrating technical proficiency with humanistic understanding, a defining characteristic of LHU’s liberal arts-oriented science and technology education.
