On April 24, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU) advanced its campus digital transformation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET). The collaboration seeks to enhance academia-industry synergy through four principal initiatives: the establishment of AI-enabled smart campuses, the promotion of ESG-oriented sustainable growth, the integration of industry-academic innovation, and the initiation of a “Far EasTone Campus Ambassador Program.” In commemoration of the event, LHU organized a masterclass with Mr. Hu De-Min, Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President of Far EasTone, who presented a compelling speech entitled “Digital Transformation and Information Management in the Era of AI.” The presentation presented a progressive viewpoint on technological disruptions caused by AI and proposed specific measures for digital transformation, fostering significant discussion among teachers and students. At the event, LHU President Dr. Tzu-Hsiang Ko bestowed a commemorative gift upon Mr. Hu in recognition of his profound and illuminating lecture. Faculty and students exhibited enthusiastic involvement, demonstrating a robust campus-wide dedication to enhancing AI literacy and application skills.
A Quadripartite Strategy for Future-Prepared Education
The recently executed MOU delineates a cooperative framework focused on 1. Intelligent Campuses Enhanced by Artificial Intelligence, 2. Net-Zero and ESG Sustainable Campuses, 3. Integration and Innovation between Industry and Academia, 4. The Far EasTone Campus Ambassador Initiative. Leveraging FET’s excellent technological skills and resource assistance, LHU intends to expedite the construction of AI testbeds, improve data governance systems, advance intelligent teaching models, and incorporate sustainable practices. This collaboration seeks to create a more innovative and intelligent learning environment for students, optimizing the synergies of interdisciplinary education. President Ko underscored that LHU is an application-oriented institution of science and technology, consistently committed to progressing essential domains such as smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, big data, and extended reality (XR). In response to the global digital transformation driven by generative AI, LHU is strengthening partnerships with industry and enhancing initiatives like the campus ambassador program to connect academia with practical applications, fostering talent development and industrial advancement.
Establishing a Globally Integrated, Digitally Enhanced Campus
LHU adopts a triadic strategy framework focused on “Smart Campus × Industry Alignment × Global Connectivity” to expedite AI talent development and propel campus digital transformation. This effort is crucial to the university’s Higher Education SPROUT Project, which seeks to improve AI-integrated learning environments and broaden worldwide viewpoints. The substantial backing from participants at the event underscored the university’s commitment to establishing itself as one of Taiwan’s preeminent schools in industry-oriented education. LHU firmly establishes itself as a national leader in promoting AI innovation and cross-sector collaboration through decisive action and a clear vision.
