LHU held a masterclass titled “Stepping onto the Global AI Stage: Global Technology Development Trends and Opportunities for Taiwan” to enhance students' AI literacy and broaden their international outlook on March 27, 2025. Mr. Sean Pien, General Manager of Microsoft Taiwan, was invited as the keynote speaker, drawing enthusiastic participation from faculty and students across the university. This event demonstrated LHU's forward-looking vision within the Higher Education SPROUT Project and showcased its collaboration with a global tech leader to create an innovative AI-driven learning environment.

LHU is actively promoting the cultivation of AI talent through a trifold strategy: “Smart Campus × Industry Connection × Global Link.” During the event, General Manager Pien provided in-depth insights into how AI technology accelerates industrial innovation and transformation, emphasizing the increasing demand for AI literacy and interdisciplinary innovation in the future job market.

To deepen its strategic partnership with Microsoft Taiwan, LHU will launch an “AI Practical Course Series” starting in 2025. Topics will include M365, AI-900 training and certification, Azure cloud platform applications, generative AI practices, and AI design. These courses will integrate industry mentorship and hands-on projects, enabling students to accumulate AI project experience while still in school.

LHU will also initiate the “Campus AI Ambassador Program,” selecting students passionate about technology and innovation potential. These ambassadors will receive official training from Microsoft and act as seed promoters for AI initiatives, assisting with developing AI-related courses, organizing workshops and community events, and helping to foster a new generation of digital citizens equipped with technical skills and influence.

President Tzu-Hsiang Ko stated, “LHU is committed to promoting digital transformation and AI applications. Our partnership with Microsoft Taiwan injects new momentum into our AI talent cultivation efforts. Students learn technology and develop critical thinking and practical skills.” In the future, LHU plans to expand its collaboration with Microsoft by developing smart campus experimental zones, applying Azure AI Speech “Avatar” digital twin voice services in more scenarios, and promoting AI innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. These efforts aim to help students bridge learning with real-world practice and become pioneers of digital innovation in the new era.

This event was also supported by the Ministry of Education's “Higher Education SPROUT Project,” offering LHU students a rare opportunity to engage directly with a technology leader, gain firsthand insights into the global AI development landscape, and embody the university's educational philosophy of “Local Learning, Global Vision.”
