Through its College of Humanities and Design, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU) has again demonstrated excellence in design education and industry collaboration. The university’s collaborative fashion design series Oriental Wind, developed in partnership with renowned fashion brand SILZENCE Style and premium Asian aluminum door and window manufacturer Artificer Intelligence Window (AIW), has been awarded the Silver Prize in the Fashion Design category at the 2024 International Design Awards (IDA). This award not only highly recognizes the creativity and practice of the series design but once again proves the leading role of LHU in cultural creativity-based design and industry collaboration.
The Oriental Wind collection reflects a seamless fusion of Eastern aesthetic traditions and modern design innovation and reinterprets the profound connotations of Eastern culture using contemporary design methods and drawing inspiration from architectural window frame structures; the garments in the series feature layered textures and poetic, intricate patterns. Natural elements and cultural symbols are meticulously integrated through refined craftsmanship, resulting in striking visual effects that evoke elegance and meaning.
This award-winning series encapsulates the spiritual essence of Eastern culture and incorporates a contemporary design language, achieving a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity. Every detail, from fabric selection to structural composition, embodies the creative vision and innovation of SILZENCE Style and AIW.
Dean Yeh Mo-Li of LHU’s College of Humanities and Design expressed her pride in the recognition, stating: “Winning the Silver Award in the International Fashion Design category affirms the value and originality of the Oriental Wind concept. At LHU, we emphasize that design education must evolve and align closely with industry needs. This collaboration honed our students’ design skills and deepened their understanding of translating conceptual ideas into tangible products—greatly enhancing their global competitiveness.”
Since its inception, the College of Humanities and Design has championed academic-industry partnerships as a cornerstone of its mission. The university actively encourages faculty and student involvement in real-world projects, fostering professional development and broadening international perspectives. The success of the Oriental Wind collection stands as a testament to LHU’s commitment to design excellence and impactful collaboration with the creative industry.
