“Dare to Dream, We Are Your Team.” On January 24, 2025, the "Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative" was officially launched at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology by the Ministry of Education's Youth Development Agency at a press conference. The event was attended by President Ching-te Lai, Vice Premier Li-chun Cheng of the Executive Yuan, Minister of Education Ying-yao Cheng, Deputy Minister Benson Yeh, and heads of various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, National Science and Technology Council, and Overseas Community / Affairs Council. Ambassadors from Taiwan's diplomatic allies, youth representatives, and delegates from civil organizations also participated, reflecting the nation's dedication to enabling young individuals to pursue their international aspirations and broaden their perspectives. President Ching-te Lai declared in his address that the nation's future is in the hands of the young. The “Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative” is a testament to Taiwan's unwavering commitment to empowering young people to pursue their aspirations with fortitude and its steadfast determination and confidence in engaging with the global community. He emphasized that this program is not solely about assisting individual adolescents in achieving their aspirations; it also functions as a critical platform for the government to encourage national-level international participation among young people.

Chiu Yung-Chieh, a student in the Department of Cultural Creativity and Digital Media Design at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, detailed the accomplishments of a University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative that was overseen by faculty members Prof. Nien-an Lin and Prof. Liang-chun Lu. The initiative was designed to promote the Weir (Shihu) culture of Xinwu, Taoyuan. Faculty and students utilized their design expertise to convert plastic waste collected from beach cleanups into valuable products, thereby supporting local revitalization. After this initiative captured their attention, an international environmental organization from France visited LHU to learn about the faculty and students' efforts to promote plastic recycling. The organization also conveyed its optimism that the team would collaborate with them to further the circular economy concept.

Chiu Yung-Chieh articulated the team's aspirations and vision for environmental sustainability to increase public awareness of the marine debris crisis. She also invited President Lai to participate in the team's endeavors to create a sustainable, circular future, which was greatly praised by President Lai, Minister Ying-yao Cheng, and Deputy Minister Beson Yeh. The French Office in Taipei invited Chiu to participate in an initiative in France following the press conference.
In addition, President Lai extended his heartfelt appreciation to the entire faculty and student body of Lunghwa University of Science and Technology and Chairman Tao-Heng Sun and President Tzu-Hsiang Ko for their contributions. The President underscored the university's important role in developing talent for the nation, as it serves as a critical foundation for the Ministry of Education's industrial and technological talent development initiatives. While serving as Vice President in November 2023, Lai personally attended the university's unveiling ceremony of the “High-Speed Electronic Transmission Interface Packaging Design and Testing Talent Training and Technology Base.” This experience left him deeply impressed by Lunghwa's exceptional educational accomplishments.
