The Ministry of Education organized the finals and project display of the 2024 National Competition for Technical College Students’ Practical Projects and Achievement Exhibition on May 16-17, 2024. This year, 1,283 project submissions were received, from which 143 projects across 16 categories were selected for the finals and exhibition. Lunghwa University of Science and Technology teams had shortlisted nine projects and achieved outstanding results. They won six major awards, including two first-place and four third-place, making it the best-performing university in the competition.
The projects titled “Strontium-Calcium-Phosphorus Coating on Titanium Dental Implants via Micro-Arc Oxidation” by Professor Jeou-long Lee’s team from the Department of Semiconductor Engineering and the “Green, Environmentally Friendly, and Fully Decomposable Mulching Film” by Professor Hsin-Liang Chen’s team, both won first place. The “Smart Cargo Vehicle with Owner Authentication, Anti-theft Features, Integrated AI, and Pan-Tilt Follow Technology” and the “Drone with Shortest Flight Path for Automatic Area Search, Recognition, and Targeting System” by Professor Chang-Hsi Wu’s team from the Department of Electronic Engineering both secured third place. Additionally, the “Plant Care App and Smart Flowerpot Development” by Professor Hsi-Che Wang from the Department of Business Administration and the game “Faithful History” by Professor Ta-Wei Lu’s team from the Department of Multimedia and Game Science also earned third-place recognition.
Professor Yung-Yu Chen, Director of Research and Development, highlighted that the students’ practical project competition is one of the most important national competitions for technical college students before graduation. Through observing daily life, students apply the professional knowledge they have gained from school and their creativity to their projects, which are increasingly valued by the industry and have commercialization potential.
President Tzu-Hsiang Ko of Lunghwa University of Science and Technology congratulated the award-winning teams, emphasizing the school’s active encouragement for students to engage in research with industrial competitiveness. Participation in the national practical project competition strengthens students’ thinking and practical skills, cultivating industry-ready talent. He hopes that students will actively participate in various national and international competitions, gain more experience, and prove that technical students can shine on the global stage.
