The 2024 LHU USR Initiatives Achievement Exhibition occurred from November 18 to 21, 2024. This event showcases the impressive outcomes of the USR projects. Attendees at the event included representatives from the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Executive Yuan, the Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau, the Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan, USR field partners, the Guishan District of Taoyuan City, the Youth Affairs Bureau, and the Youth Entrepreneurship Command Center. The goal is to blend the insights and experiences from industry, government, and academia to enhance the understanding of USR among faculty and students, ultimately empowering the university's commitment to its responsibilities.

In her inaugural speech, Lin Ru-Jen, the Vice President of Administrative Affairs at LHU, emphasized that social responsibility is a fundamental practice embraced by universities everywhere. LHU is an engaging institution making remarkable progress in bridging the gap between industry and academia. This year's USR final showcases the execution results of various initiatives at the school. These initiatives seamlessly align with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encompass teaching, research, and academic endeavors. Every USR initiative brings together the brightest faculty and students to support residents and care recipients, creating a meaningful impact on society.

Vice President Lin emphasized that the 17 SDGs form the cornerstone of LHU's commitment to social responsibility and act as its guiding principles. Lunghwa University of Science and Technology places a strong emphasis on the importance of university social responsibility. The university offers extensive support and abundant resources for every USR initiative, encouraging faculty, staff, and students to participate in USR-related activities. The university's Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Center reflects its dedication to advancing USR initiatives. Looking ahead, the school will continue to secure corporate resources and foster partnerships with businesses to develop USR initiatives and generate innovative ideas together. The goal is to strengthen the collaboration between the school and businesses, enhancing both the quantity and quality of job opportunities for LHU students while boosting the competitiveness of enterprises.

Director Lu Liangjun from the Sustainable Development Center highlighted that LHU is implementing 10 USR initiatives this year. In addition to the four competitive seed projects, there are six on-campus prototype projects. The faculty and student teams at LHU champion local, sustainable development by tackling the vulnerabilities within the care sectors scattered across Taoyuan.

This event warmly invited collaborators in the USR collaboration field to participate in a dynamic exchange of ideas. Lunghwa University has long been deeply embedded in the local community, nurturing strong connections, and showcasing its vital role in supporting local culture and addressing the needs of disadvantaged groups. The university is dedicated to championing and communicating the idea of environmental sustainability to the community. The faculty and students not only engaged actively, but they also partnered with other schools and social enterprises to further the cause. Their goal was to amplify the impact of the USR program, enhance public awareness, and collaboratively embrace university social responsibility.
