Lunghua Faculty and Students win Six Major Awards at the 2024 Taiwan Innovation Technology Expo, Highlighting Their R&D Strength.
The 2024 Taiwan Innotech Expo has wrapped up successfully. This year, the talented faculty and student team at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology showcased an impressive array of 12 patents, covering various professional fields such as information technology, electrical engineering, machinery, and innovative everyday solutions. The team proudly secured one gold medal, two silver medals, two bronze medals, and a prestigious corporate special award, showcasing their outstanding innovative research and development prowess.
Under the leadership of Prof. Qiu Guanshun, a dedicated team of educators and students from LHU's Department of Business Administration has successfully developed the “Hybrid Power System Structure for Aircraft.” This innovative solution enhances the safety of power equipment for single-engine planes. This year's exposition awarded the work a prestigious gold medal. The team's additional project, "A Coaxial Reverse Propeller Module for Remote-Controlled Aircraft," earned a bronze medal for outstanding achievement.
Professor Qiu Guanshun emphasized that single-engine planes pose a greater safety risk than multi-engine aircraft. When an aircraft's engine fails and power is lost, the pilot typically has mere seconds to react. The team developed a turbojet engine powered by an electric system. In the event of an unexpected engine failure, this device springs into action, activating in full-power standby mode and ready to be switched as needed. The electric backup system will swiftly deliver power to maintain the propeller's rotation until a safe landing.
In response to the needs of over 2 million diabetes patients nationwide, a dedicated team of students and faculty from the Department of Information Management, spearheaded by Chen Jiali, has created an innovative app called the "Carbohydrate Monitoring Plate." This app seamlessly integrates image recognition with weight sensing, delivering simplicity and exceptional value. This tool not only helps individuals with diabetes maintain strict dietary control but also supports those seeking to eat healthily, earning a prestigious silver medal in recognition.
Chen Zhiwen's Department of Mechanical Engineering team presents the "3D Printer Automatic Feeding Device with Disconnection Detection, Material Replenishment, and Color Change Function," designed to ensure high efficiency and exceptional printing quality, all while enhancing the user experience. This piece was awarded a silver medal. Cao Zhongcheng's team from the same department proudly secured a bronze medal for their innovative work on the "Oval Sphere Tube Step-Drilling System."
A dedicated team of students and faculty from the Department of Semiconductor Engineering, under the leadership of Professor Huang Guodong, has successfully developed a groundbreaking patent for a new laser packaging module. This pioneering innovation merges the heat dissipation base with the photodiode receiver into one cohesive structure, streamlining processing steps and cutting costs while maintaining a strong competitive edge. This patent has garnered the backing of the Foxconn Group, securing the prestigious Corporate Special Award.
