Lunghwa University Partners with MetaAge to Promote USR and CSR Collaboration Projects
The University Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Center of Lunghwa University of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of cooperation on social responsibility and sustainable development with MetaAge Digital Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Qisda Group. Together, they aim to integrate and leverage the synergies of University Social Responsibility (USR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in local community care, thereby strengthening the development of academic-industry partnerships from the perspective of social responsibility to enhance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17.
President of Lunghwa University, Tzu-Hsiang Ko, stated that the core spirit of the university social responsibility promoted by the Ministry of Education is talent cultivation. Through curriculum planning, teachers and students go beyond the campus to guide students in understanding local issues with empathy, using their professional knowledge to find the best solutions for community problems with the concept of social innovation. Technical and vocational schools play a crucial role in cultivating industry talent and serve as essential bases for sustainable development of the country, while enterprises are key drivers of ESG and social responsibility. Therefore, the cooperation between Lunghwa University and MetaAge aims to integrate industrial and academic resources from the perspectives of university and corporate social responsibility, moving towards sustainable development, establishing partnerships, and promoting the practice of social responsibility to create sustainable social value.
Lunghwa University is actively promoting its university social responsibility program, gradually expanding its social impact. It has upgraded and developed budding projects within the university, continually improving efforts with the support of MetaAge’s integrated corporate resources. Through Dr. Chiao-Wang Shih, the leader of the budding USR project, MetaAge donated laptops to assist in the execution of the USR project “Hand in Hand with Guisha -The Co-prosperity and Sublimation of Conservation, Humanities, and Technology.” This collaboration helps international students from the New Southbound Policy countries at Lunghwa University to promote information education in rural areas of their home countries. Additionally, forums and exchange meetings serve as platforms for academic and corporate cross-sectoral learning and experience sharing.
Dr. Liang‑Chun Lu, Director of the Sustainable Development Center, emphasized that the global trend of corporate ESG implementation is growing, and the combination of university social responsibility with corporate ESG sustainable spirit sets the best example. Lunghwa University and MetaAge are taking practical actions, inventorying resources, and working together to strengthen local connections, gradually aligning with international standards. By integrating ESG and USR, they aim to reinforce the synergies of local community care, create exemplary value in practice, and deepen social impact.
