The 2024 commencement was held at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology on June 1. Deputy Mayor of Taoyuan City, Jun-Bin Su, attended to congratulate and commend the university for its practical and outstanding educational achievements. Deputy Mayor Su pointed out that since its founding by Fa-Min Sun, Lunghwa University has been closely integrated with Taiwan’s industries, cultivating the talents needed by the industry with dedication. The excellent performance of Lunghwa alums has further enhanced the reputation of the university, making it a frequent top choice in media surveys of the universities most favored by companies. This recognition highlights the university’s commitment to quality education.
Deputy Mayor Su encouraged all graduates to carry the skills they have learned, the friends they have made, and the attitudes and perspectives gained from their teachers into their future endeavors. He hoped that students would bring the DNA and spirit of Lunghwa into society and contribute to the nation.
This year, Lunghwa University saw 3,041 graduates from the day and evening divisions complete their studies. In addition to Deputy Mayor Su, nearly 100-year-old founder Shu-Chuan Chen Sun, Chief Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, Taoyuan City, Xun-Zhi Li, Alumni Association Chairman Xian-Zong Dou, Honorary Chairman Hui-Er Zhan, and President of the Lunghwa Entrepreneurs Association Shi-Rui Zhang, among other distinguished guests and outstanding alums, were invited to present awards and extend their best wishes to the graduates, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and showcase their talents.
President Tzu-Hsiang Ko of Lunghwa University earnestly advised the graduates to continue learning even after entering the workforce, create value by being needed and relied upon, and be willing to do tasks others may avoid. President Ko noted that since the advent of ChatGPT, human life has been significantly impacted and changed. In the future workplace, the competition will not come from classmates but from AI. To outperform artificial intelligence, one must continually learn new knowledge and create value for others and the company, thus gaining opportunities for a brilliant life.
President Ko encouraged the students to be undeterred by hardships when starting their careers and to take on tasks that others are reluctant to do, following the saying “endure hardship as if it were nourishment.” This attitude will provide the opportunity to experience various challenges and learning experiences, which are the most valuable assets and profound life experiences.
On behalf of Chairman Tao-Heng Sun, Vice President Ru-Jen Lin also congratulated the graduates and thanked the faculty for their dedicated teaching. Vice President Lin emphasized that today’s workplace requires interdisciplinary talents and continuous learning and improvement, essential for standing out in the new era and achieving one’s dreams and goals. She encouraged every graduate to remember their teachers’ kindness and remain connected to their alma mater, as graduates will always be part of the Lunghwa family, with the university being their most outstanding support.
At the ceremony, graduates and their families beamed with excitement and pride. Many took the opportunity to take photos with their teachers, creating a joyful and heartwarming atmosphere reminiscent of a grand celebration of gratitude towards the faculty.
